LINE of BLUE PANSIES

Here is a  5.5" square card I made with the Blue Pansies Set.  The pansies are on a ready-to print sheet, I got the dimension with the leaves by cutting out the individual "pansy with leaves" elements on the sheet ( as the leaves line up with the line of pansies arrangement) and removing some of the leaves from my cutout depending on where I was placing them on the line.( I wish I took a picture of my cutouts to show you  what I mean LOL)  Each pansy flower is 2 extra layers and I shaped and moulded the petals on the last layer... this one is really dimensional.  I used silicone glue to glue everything.  You have to wait 20-30 min per layer but it's worth it to get a perfect placement; ever try to correct an alignment mistake with double sided foam? :O  LOL.  The background papers here are included in the set.   I used Staples Matte Photo/Brochure Paper for this card. The colours of the pansies came out eye-popping-ly as I experimented with my Canon printer's "vivid photo" setting.  May avoid that setting next time LOL!

I really enjoyed making this card... have I told you all lately that I really love pansies? heehee.

REMINDER:  Please don't forget to try the FSS February Challenge :)

Have a great day y'all!

SPOTLIGHT: Shelly Skala

I am happy have Shelly in the spotlight today.  Her designs are so fresh and pretty and she has a wonderful project to share today :)

HERE'S  SHELLY!:
 *****************************
I hope you've been following Fred She Said blog for the DT project showcases. There have been some great ones so far. Since it was my turn I decided to make a fun little project using the Polka Dotty Flowers set. I love the idea of making handmade embellishments especially when I can make an unlimited amount of them for a fraction of the cost. The Polka Dotty Flowers set contains 14 different printable sheets, with 3 flower designs on each sheet. They come in a variety of colors so you can easily find one that is best suited for your project. Please see below for a step by step guide of how I used a printable sheet to create my own flower embellishments.

I started with the Raspberry colored printable sheet as seen below:

Then I cut them out leaving an 1/8 inch white edge around each flower. I also cut out the pre-colored leaves included on the printable sheet.

I sponged around the edges with a coordinating color ink and added glitter for a more finished look:
Then I added pink buttons tied with silver cord:

And placed them in a clear window rectangle tin decorated with a tag from the All Occassion Tag printable set from The Cutting Cafe.

Here's a couple of cards I made using the handmade flowers:

And finally here's a group photo of a fun little gift idea for a fellow cardmaker:

And to think that it all started with one printable sheet of paper. It may seem like a lengthy process but really didn't take very long. I tend to do my cutting in front of the television so time goes by quickly. Of course you could add different finishing touches such as brads or pearls in place of the buttons and can leave out the sponging and/or glitter. You can also choose how many layers you want to make the flowers and can choose polka dots, non-polka dots or a mixture of the two.
Thanks for dropping by and I do hope this post has given you a little inspiration. Remember you can check out the Fred She Said blog to view the remaining printable sheets as well as many others.

Thanks so much, Shelly!  Your flowers embellishments are awesome!  Love this.

Have a great day!

Here is my "Fred She Said" creation:

My card uses the TeaCup Pansies Digi.  I love it and knew the minute that I saw it that I would watercolor it and pop it up!   On the pansy card I printed it out on watercolor paper 4 times and water colored it with Tombow markers.  The white on the teacup is a mica watercolor and I accented the dots along the swag with a white gel pen.  The image was cut out and layered with pop dots to give it the dimension.  The very centers of the pansies were accented with stickles to give it some shine.

My special code word is:
RING

Here is a list of the blog hoppers in case you lose your way:

SPOTLIGHT: Carol Hurlock

HAPPY WEDNESDAY! It's SPOTLIGHT DAY at Fred She Said and I am delighted to spotlight Carol H.!  I swear this girl knows how to throw the hearts around!   Check out her blog and see the valentine decorating and cute pillow ornaments she has been making!  Beeootiful!  Now here's CAROL!:

********************************************

You can't believe how excited I was when I saw this fabulous Digi from Fred She Said Designs. With a houseful of baseball fans and players it is the perfect image for a Valentine's Day Card!!! Tracy's images are some of the best on the net. This wonderful image is called "Catch Your Heart" and can be found here at her store!

I LOVE shaker cards and knew this image would be a perfect shaker....but with a twist. If you look closely, you will see a package of Terrifically Tacky Tape. I am forever throwing out that nice domed piece....and suddenly in December it hits me that I could use that...and so this shaker card was born. You too should save that piece, because I am going to tell you how to use it for your next easy peasey "Shaker Card".
The size of my card is 6 x 6. You can see here that I cut around the plastic and left about a 1/2 inch or so. I filled the bowl with this shaker material. Hint: If you are having problems with static electricity inside the plastic dome, you can take a dryer sheet and wipe the inside before placing your shaker material. You are going to glue this to your image....you can see mine in the foreground. I use 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue for my adhesive.

Once that has dried, you are going to make the portion of the embellishment that slips over the dome to hide the edges. In this picture, I cut a 5" x 5' piece of designer paper. This is so easy to do as long as you have your measurements correct. In the middle of that piece of paper, I used Martha Stewart's round circle cutter and put the blade of the knife in the 3-9/16 hole and cut out the circle. I then used the heart around the page punches from Martha Stewart. I used the same 3-in-1 glue to attach it to the card. I love inking the edges of my cards...so I have used the Rangers Tea Dye distress ink around all the edges. The hearts are a Martha Stewart punch and I cut a plain heart to line the underside of this lattice heart.
Here is my card with the envelope I created. Keep in mind you will need a thicker style envelope to place your card in. I used the 6 x 6 Envelope Kit from "Priscillastyles" found here. You can see in this picture what I am talking about with the thickness.

The kit comes with a template to help you cut out the envelope. I have lined the inner part of my envelope and all the flaps, and this is how you form your envelope around the form. I hope you enjoyed viewing my project and will start using those pieces of plastic you would normally throw away. Just think about all the fun and fascinating things you can create with them and reuse these items to help save the earth!

Gorgeous, Carol and what a great way to recycle packaging!

Have a great day!

FSS Challenge Blog: Are you a winner?

The FEB 1st FSS CHALLENGE FOLLOWER  winner is announced on the FSS Challenge Blog.  Are you a winner?!  ;)  If you aren't we are doing it again March 1st!  Just follow the challenge blog and you can win a free image :)

My offending ribbon & Monday PICK ME UP

I issued a  Fun With Fred challenge last week, in a moment of craziness LOL!  You are to use a ribbon you blindly pick out of your stash  OR choose one that has been "perplexing" you, like colours you don't normally use, or pattern or it is just CRAZY.  It is just for fun, if you would like to "perplex yourself" grab a ribbon, make a project and post it on the FSS Group Comment Wall.    Well I chose and it took me a few days to get it together LOL.  It DOTH perplexed me!!!  The ribbon I chose is in an autumn stripe... these are colours I just don't normally use... ( look around my blog and the various assortment of pastels LOL)  Well, it came together in the end... and also leads to this week's   MONDAY PICK ME UP.  I used a paper I designed but haven't got around to working it into anything.  A "petite fleurs" patterned paper.  This pack contains 5 little flowery papers.  And can be downloaded HERE.  ( UPDATE: Link fixed JUNE 2017)

CARD DEETS:
Green background paper is ink brayered to get that soft blocky look then CB embossed.  The leaves and paper strip are sponged with distress inks.  EK Success border punches and MS butterfly stamp/punch combo, Bosskut daisy leaves die, orange stickles.  Perplexing Ribbon... no idea, a gift from a friend.  My digital petite fleurs paper in yellow orange.  I coloured the Flower with pencils/OMS.

Happy Monday!
:)*  Fred
